Weirdly reminiscent.

I found this David Horvitz screenshot this morning, it's the latest added to his blog. It's weirdly reminiscent of "The Things I Once Owned". I mean, except for putting the photographs in place of the objects I photographed, this pretty much exactly what I did throughout the project. Pretty rad, if you ask me.

Foreclosure: The Death of the American Dream

Lauren Greenfield's "Foreclosure: Death of the American Dream" from Frank Evers on Vimeo.

Lauren Greenfield's "Foreclosure" is really pretty amazing. Found via Amy Stein's blog.

Mull It Over

Photographer Jonathan Cherry recently asked me to do an interview on his blog, Mull It Over, about 'The Things I Once Owned' project. I think he asked some interesting questions and I'm pretty excited to be included in the project. Check it out, when you get the chance. He's interviewed some other pretty great photographers, and I always love to see new websites talking about contemporary photography.

Shrine - Still in Progress

New shrine sculpture! Still in progress, but I'm really excited about it so far. I think I might frame the print and lean it against the wall, though I'm not sure. Also, brightly colored vigil candles are going underneath the desk, which the viewer will be encouraged to light with long matches.

Any suggestions?

Also, check out 'Album' by Girls. It's so fucking amazing.

"The Hunted" in New York Magazine

"Sami asked the men why they were targeting gays. 'They are wrong. They are sinners,' one man said. 'They work with the Zionists, with the Americans. They are spies. We need to get rid of them. God sent us from heaven to make everything good, to reform society. We’re killing gays, getting rid of them to make society clean from bad things.'

This is a really horrifying article in New York Magazine about the persecution of gay men in Iraq right now. Please read it.
